How has race been constructed ?

Sapphire:

In this film race is a major issue and effects the way people are treated in the film. As an example one of the  detectives say "Nice enough girl considering she was coloured". This shows the audience that some races in the film are less important then others. In Sapphire everyone one is shocked when they find out that Sapphire was black and posing as white to live(or try to) a better life. Another way race has been constructed is where in the film we are introduced to a club called the international club, this is a place where all the other races can go without being judged. To round up all of this, a white person would be ashamed to be seen or be associated with a balck person.

Flame in the streets:

Race was key in this film again as people were divided in the film because of skin colour. In the film there is a lady that has set up a life with a black man and they are pregnant, this is frowned upon in the film. We can see this by Where they live. Also in the film we see white people complain that they do not want a black person to be incharge at their work enviroment. They believe it will cause trouble giving a black man more power. White people in the film seem to have nice houses with big spaces, filled with nice items, Where going back to the black and white couple they live in a tiny flat with bare minimal items.
